There are so many things to do in West Seattle; it’s difficult to choose just ten of our favorite things, but here are our top picks for the next time you come through our Origins Cannabis neighborhood.

    1. LINCOLN PARK

The district’s major urban park, Lincoln Park is a sprawling and impressively diverse playground, encompassing grassy meadows, rocky beaches, and woodsy forests.

    2. KAYAK TOURS & ACTIVITIES

West Seattle is largely shoreline, and there’s plenty of ways to get out onto the water. One of the best is Alki Kayak Tours, offering sea kayak, paddle board, bike and skate rentals as well as guided tours of the nearby waterways.

    3. WEST SEATTLE BOWL

Bowling was so last year, but that’s the point at West Seattle Bowl, a vivaciously retro throwback to family fun of yesteryear. The associated Highstrike Grill—that’s a bowling reference, not necessarily a cannabis one—serves fancier-than-usual pub grub like wild boar currywurst and salade nicoise.

    4. FARMERS’ MARKET

Handily located in the heart of West Seattle Junction, the West Seattle Farmer’s Market is open Sundays year-round. In addition to the plethora of local organic crops and artisanal food products, keep an eye out for chef demos, live music and more.

    5. ALKI POINT LIGHTHOUSE

This charming little structure, located at the very southwestern tip of Aliki Beach Park, is first and foremost a functional aid to navigation, but during summer weekends you can tour the Alki Point Lighthouse courtesy of the US Coast Guard.

    6. WEST SEATTLE WATER TAXI

As opposed to the large Washington State vehicle ferries that ply Puget Sound, the Water Taxi is a pedestrian-only service running between downtown Seattle, West Seattle, and Vashon Island. If you’re searching for what to do in Seattle, it’s both a convenient way to hop around the Sound and worth it just for the thrill out being out on the water.

    7. SCHMITZ PRESERVE PARK

Sprawling over 50 acres, Schmitz Preserve Park is a startlingly dense urban wonderland covered in old-growth forest, carefully maintained walking trails and opportunities for dedicated nature study.

    8. MUSEUM OF FLIGHT

Just to the east and adjacent to Sea-Tac airport is the Museum of Flight, the largest private not-for-profit air and space museum in the world. It’s an homage to Boeing—arguably Seattle’s most emblematic company from the days from before Microsoft claimed that title—and consistently tops locals’ lists of “things to do in Seattle.”

    9. ME-KWA-MOOKS PARK

A very different experience than better-known Alki Beach Park, Me-Kwa-Mooks boasts more than just a beautiful view. Uphill is a dense forest, home to numerous wild birds (including owls). Across the street is a rocky beach. At low tide, tide pools will reveal limpets, lumpsuckers, chitons, nudibranchs, sea stars, sea slugs, sea cucumbers, hermit crabs, and a fascinating array of other denizens.

    10. DUWAMISH LONGHOUSE AND CULTURAL CENTER

Situated at the top of Alki Beach Park near the mouth of the Duwamish River, this traditional cedar post-and-beam structure is an important resource and meeting place for the selfsame tribe’s matters. Stop by to gaze at historical displays and artifacts from the time before settlers arrived, bringing traffic jams, monster trucks, and mobile phones.
